1) paradigm (page 201)- a typical example or pattern of something; a model

2) carcinogenicity (page 202)- the ability or tendency to produce cancer

3) cystic fibrosis (page 204)- (a.k.a. mucoviscidosis) an autosomal recessive genetic disorder that affects mostly the lungs but also the pancreas, liver, and intestine; causes thick, sticky mucus to build in the lungs, digestive tract, and other areas of the body

4) perturbations (page 206)- anxiety; mental uneasieness

5) appendicitis (page 208)- swelling (inflammation) of the appendix (small pouch attached to the beginning of the large intestine)
